TUTOR PROFILE: Nicolle Mitchell I.T.E.C., MICHT, CMA, CThA My Name is Nicolle Mitchell & I have been practicing holistic massage since 1998. I run a thriving practice by the blue flag beach in Porthtowan, on the stunning North Cornish coast. My interest in complementary therapies started when I worked as a child carer & was fascinated by the impact of aromatherapy on the children, helping calm them down & heal their hurt. I moved to Cornwall & began my studies, which have continued ever since. I have built up a very busy clinic since then, selling some of my own products alongside my hands on practice. My passions are my family, health & the environment, which is why my practice & products reflect this. All the products I buy in, or hand blend myself ~ TLC in a Bottle ~ are 100% natural, & ingredients are sustainably sourced wherever possible. I believe that integrated medicine is the way forward, & my vision is that all people will have access to all medicine. I think that medicine, like food or toiletries, should be as natural as possible first, that way the body has less to process & has a better chance of healing. However, I also know that orthodox has its place too, as it saved my life when I was 17. Keeping a work life balance, good food, good friends & a supportive family are all key to great health & happiness; not forgetting good hydration & laughing lots too of course. Historically, people with special needs have comprised a large part of my client base. More recently though, I have specialised in treating people with dementia. I use specialist techniques which I have learned & developed to treat clients with the dignity they deserve & make them feel comfortable throughout a massage session. Working with people with dementia has been a great privilege as well as a very steep & enjoyable learning curve. I was inspired to write a course: Massage for People with Dementia. Workshops for carers, be they friends, family or professionals are also available, so that you can give a loved one or client some therapeutic benefit through touch. A certificate of attendance is awarded to each attendee. I also train carers of people who have dementia throughout Cornwall for Outlook South West LLP. This is a service provided via the NHS to help carers understand dementia, & signpost them to support for them & the person they care for. This includes facilitating memory cafes around Cornwall for carers & people who have dementia. I am happy to provide workshops, presentations & training sessions in this field. Simply contact me with any enquiries. Warm wishes, Nicolle
